I still say the Giants win 90 this season. I don't understand how it took until last night for SF to beat the Padres, but this year's Giants club still seems pretty complete. With Barry, I'd say we'd be a lock for 100 wins and the World Series.

This is amazingly frustrating.

The giants lineup is atrocious right now and mainly its due to their lack of speed and patience. Speed and patience don't go into slumps. If they aren't going to get or be able to attract big bats they need to go the way of speed and on base percentage if they want to win.

When i started reading the flip side paragraph i was thinking about how I was going to comment about the Howard thing and there it was. What does he want Howard to say? Are Howards numbers that much better then the start of last year? No. Barry is a glory hog. I really feel bad for him thought that he can't get a job in baseball because I know he has a lot to teach and I think he would be good at it as long as the player on the other end could deal with him.

Like you, I am pleased with the plate discipline displayed so far by DeRosa and Huff. However, I alarmingly see no improvement from Rowand (aka Dropa2), Panda, Molina (aka Loose Change), and the man called "UUU." I think the 2010 Giants will be a better OBP team than last year (how could they NOT be), but they will have alarming periods where they don't make the pitcher work and hack away. Two mitigating factors from last year: 1. FA additions and 2. The younger players seeing more ABs.

That said, I don't see Uselez ever learning enough patience to remain on the roster once we're healthy. A Posey call up will cut both ways -- he'll take away ABs from Huff (bad) but also from Bengie (good) as he'll likely split time at 1b and behind the dish.
